Potential overtraining warning signs and symptoms

Train smart NOT hard and you wont succumb to overtraining. Listen to your body and make note of these early warning signs and symptoms:

  • Extra tired/washed -out
  • Pain in joints
  • Unexplained drop in performance/intensity
  • Headaches
  • Unexplained moodiness/irritability
  • Anxiety
  • Lack of enthusiasm for training
  • Loss of appetite
  • Increased number of colds/sore throats

An easy way to self manage your training is to know your resting HR. If it happens to be 5-10beats higher than normal when rising it’s probably best to skip that hard training session you had planned that day – go for a walk instead.
