To live a happy, healthy and fulfilled life we need movement – it is the key ingredient I believe.
With the heart pumping and blood flowing, we assist the body in metabolizing and excreting lactic acid and other toxins that accumulate in muscles, organs and connective tissue.
Detox’s are certainly great, but to completely dissipate blockages in our body we need physical movement.
From a biomech perspective human physical movement can be broken into the following:
Push, pull, hinge (bend/flex at the hips), squat, lunge and rotate..and there are innumerable combinations and variants of each.
Aspiring to move smoothly requires that we practice these movements, in isolation and combination, and approach the practice with a goal to both stretch and strengthen the muscle.
Strength and flexibility are not mutually exclusive, they go hand in hand.
When we create a strong and flexible body that can push, pull, bend, squat, lunge and rotate well, the natural movements we were born to do (and probably have now lost in adulthood) become easier. For us that means we crawl, walk, run, climb, jump, defend, throw, lift, swim and balance better. Doing these well creates a healthy body and mind.
Keep striving to master these movements, and all of life will begin to/and keep flowing with fluidity and ease.
